Weird Question Number Eight

I'm telling you, Mike is not a normal interviewer. For instance, here is his 8th question for me...

8. Do you want to be Vanna White or Pat Sajak?

Well, Duh! Vanna, of course. I have several of the usual reasons for that, and one really important reason.

First of all, what's not to like about being slender with an unlimited supply of fancy dresses to wear?

She gets to travel to do their show at different sites. I would enjoy that! I even love hotel rooms, as long as they are clean. It would be rough to have to make those long trips to Hawaii and such places, but I think I could do it.

I would enjoy having Vanna's accent. I don't know anyone who sounds quite like her.

Most of all, though, Vanna gets to play with yarn! A lot! Vanna even has her own line of yarn through Lion's Brand. How cool is that?! I bet she doesn't even get stupid tendonitis when she crochets.

Much to my surprise, there are a bunch of clips on YouTube of Vanna just talking about yarn. OK, it may not be that exciting to most, but I get it. I understand the addiction.

Yea, kind of silly, huh? I would do the same, though. Shopping for yarn is a lovely experience.

Peaceful Anticipation

I don't know why, but yarn just fills me with a peaceful anticipation. A new skein of yarn...so nice! I love to feel it, squeeze it and plan a future for it. A skein of yarn is just full of potential.

I really, really love planning new crochet projects. I am usually dreaming up things for Wyoming Rose Boutique but this next project is more important. It is for my sister, Tina. It is not a secret; she knows about it. That is, she knows I am going to make some sort of poncho for her. She also knows it will be purple. She loves purple! But, she doesn't really know what it will look like as I don't know yet myself.

Yesterday Lisa left a comment that she wants to learn to crochet like me. Well, Lisa, here's how it goes for me. I mess around for quite some time as I try different crochet stitches. I look online and/or through crochet magazines and books. I pretty much never actually use a pattern. Even when I do, I find I keep changing it up. Often I study pictures of things that I like and then I try to figure out how it was made. It involves a lot of guessing. I admit that I often waste a lot of time before I even get going. Then, halfway through a project I think of ways I want to change it up.

So, I'm going to touch this yarn, squeeze it a bit and see if I can figure out what this purple yarn wants to be. I'll let you know how it goes!

My Recliner, My Crochet Hook and a Pile of Yarn

After working a full day yesterday I went shopping for groceries then zipped home to do a few chores, prepare food, etc.  I was rushing because I wanted to get some crocheting done!  Why is that so much fun for me?

Although Maria and I aren't real excited about doing any craft fairs in the near future, we were invited to bring Wyoming Rose Boutique Products to a little private sale later this week.  (For those of you local, it is at my place of employment at 5:30 Thursday...you are invited)  There will be other items there, not necessarily handmade.  It's just a pre-Christmas shopping kind of party with food and friends.

Anyway, I heard today that some people were coming JUST TO SEE OUR LITTLE KID HATS.  That would be great except we've sold most of them and only have a few on our website.  So, I interrupted my work on a pair of baby booties for Elise and set to work on a new project.

I spent my evening in my recliner, snuggled up with a pile of yarn...

And out of the mess I created this guy.  I think he is kind of cute.

I still had some time before I had to go to bed for today's early work start.  You guessed it!  I grabbed some more yarn!  It's addictive, people!  I can't help myself!

Have a great day and try to create something that makes you happy as well.  Let me know!

Wyoming Rose - Perfectly Pretty Poncho

This sweet Perfectly Pretty Poncho is one of my favorites.  I really love how it turned out.  I found this yarn in Great Falls, MT last Summer and I knew I had to make something out of it.  The yarn itself has a gentle bulkiness but is so, so soft!  It has enough variety of color I can see it being worn with yellows, golds, mint, burgundy or others.  I think it would look especially great with jeans... but then I think everything looks great with jeans, don't you?

I used a double crochet for most of the poncho but I decided to switch it up for the bottom rows.  You can see that it gave it a bit of intrigue without making it too busy.  Because it is a poncho, it will fit most teenagers or adult women.  That is one of the nice things about ponchos, it is easy to choose a size!  It is also washable and machine dryable, although I'd recommend a gentle cycle to keep it beautiful.

I put many hours into  this poncho but it is available at Wyoming Rose Boutique for only $35.  It would make such a nice Spring gift but I think after you feel it you'd have a hard time giving it away!

Back to Sewing!

Yesterday, as I worked on my room some more, I kept turning green!  No, I wasn't sick.  I mean, literally, I kept turning green.  Remember that I was spraypainting the dresser the day before?  Apparently you really should do it outdoors or in an open garage as the can says.  Although I couldn't see green anywhere, it kept showing up on my hands!  It seems a green dust had formed on some surfaces.  My computer was in there (Netflix kept me entertained as I worked) and so everytime I use my computer yesterday, I got green fingers.   It was weird.

The important thing, though, is it is all back in order and my dream room is again being used to create!  No carpet yet, but that will come.  I also haven't had the guys move my new/old sewing machine and cabinet up from the basement yet.  I'll tell you more about that someday but it will stay downstairs until the carpet is in.

Here is a picture of two of my shelving units.  The one on the left has fabrics, patterns, etc.  The one  on the right has jewelry-making items as well as beautiful yarns.  I don't know what it is but I just love looking at all that potential there, especially the fabric and yarns!  It is kind of like I have my own craft store!

This is where I sew.  I was so excited I had to start a quilt already.  I've been watching the series Eli Stone on Netflix as I worked so I just kept watching it while I sewed.

So, I am going with Kate W.'s suggestion of calling it the Paisley Room.  I just love paisley fabric and I love saying the word Paisley.  I looked it up on Wikipedia and found that the design we know as paisley is from India and Iran.  The word, paisley, is from a town in Scotland.  I have some Scottish roots; maybe that explains my love of that word!  I even like Brad Paisley!

Lucky for you all, I just backspaced over an educational lesson regarding paisley.  I decided to leave a little mystery, meaning I didn't want to get tooooo boring.

You probably can't see it but that quilt top has some black and white paisley in it.  I noticed that a LOT of my fabric is paisley.  I'm going to move my paisley giraffe in there for inspiration and I think I will make a paisley wallhanging for decoration!

Kate, I thank you!
