Dandelion Sweetness

Mike & I enjoyed some time with the little granddaughters last evening. We took them for a walk around the neighborhood and found ourselves transported back in time.

Maybe you don't realize that this scene could have been taken a generation ago. We kept chuckling as we watched Maria I mean Cordelia trying to "herd" her younger sibling. It involves lots of sweet talk and grabbing of the younger siblings hand. We saw it so many times before. It serves to make older sibling feel like they are leading the younger one, even though the younger one is off on a mission of his/her own. It's main purpose, though, is to keep the younger sibling safe. Are firstborns always the worriers?

Elise didn't mind.

She was all smiles.

She said, "I'm happy!"

A couple of times 

last night she 

also said, 

"I'm so excited!"

Cordelia teaches her little sister the important things,

such as collecting rocks

and picking dandelions.

Receiving a handful of dandelions from a little SpiderGirl is the

epitome of the sweet life, my friends.

Little Girls and Dandelions

All little girls pick dandelions, don't they? 

I know that I did. 

Maria did. 

It is just one of those things that little girls do. 

I love it!

When we were at the Natural Bridge Cordelia found lots of dandelions. 

In true Cordelia fashion, she made sure we each received one. 

She is such a giving little thing.

Well, Elise watches every move that Cordy makes.

She wants to be just like her big sister.

It is pretty cute to see. 

She is a quick learner, though.

And she gave me this beautiful dandelion.

The Shy Tulips

My daughter's blog is titled, Little Things Are Big ( http://maria-rose.blogspot.com/ ), because she wanted to acknowledge all the small things that make up for a great life, things that we often take for granted if we even notice them at all.  I've learned a few lessons from her.

You know how tulips usually smile out their bright colors ridiculously early, often while there is still snow on the ground?  Well, mine were really shy this year.  For WEEKS they looked like they were about to open but did not.  Other flowers were blooming, but not the tulips.  Last week I decided to take their picture everyday and FINALLY I got what I was hoping for.  Here are the pictures from last week.  It took me until about Wednesday to realize the dandelion was stealing the show and had to go.  Although it took all week to reach full glory, you'll see the tulips really had a surprise waiting inside!
